I found some pictures in my files I had not seen since the day I uploaded them.  Among them were wonderful pictures of a storm that came through Seaside one morning. That morning I stayed on the beach and I took pictures to not only capture the wonderful colors of the storm, but also how people just kept going on with what they were doing. Even the people that left found things to do, like shop and eat at the beach front eateries.  I looked for a quote to go with the stormy picture. The quote I have included was perfect and spoke directly to me.  WAY TOO many times I let the (cold) weather get me down.  I need to remember this picture and how so many of us continued to find beauty in the midst of the storm. There truly is beauty in every. single. day.  Wow!  I didn't realize that a few pictures could be such a lesson to me. Have a great week and find beauty in your days.

How smart were our Founding Father's as they directed our nation and got it started?  If you take the time to read many of the essays those men wrote, along with the Declaration of Independence you will be amazed at their foresight. Much of it had to come from the above verse.  Let's hope we always remember.

Happy Birthday Lisa.  The oldest (as in KNOWN the longest) friend I have. A 49 year friendship..and still counting!  I appreciate our friendship more every year. We were lucky girls to grow up together on that idyllic "D" Street. Love you...forever.

Happy Father's Day...............

   One day this summer my youngest son and I turned on the TV and happened to get in on the tail end of Dr. Phil's wife giving someone an interview about him.  She was telling about what a remarkable father he was.  She said, "I have never to this day ever seen Phillip put a single drop of alcohol to his lips."  I commented about how unbelievable that was, since Dr. Phil has kind of gone "Hollywood."  My youngest son turned to me and said, "Well I've never seen my dad put a single drop of alcohol to his lips either."  I smiled and said, "You're right Luke.  And you remember that. He was teaching you by example."  That small conversation reminded me that no matter how young or old our children are, they are still watching and observing us. And in that respect I picked a perfect man to have five children with.  He is a man of infinite patience, hard-working, and loves children and all child-related activities.  When the our children were growing up, he not only went to every activity they all did, most of the time he was the coach of the team or the sponsor of what they were doing. Now that they are in their twenties he still is an active participant in their lives as he helps them with college questions or schedules, helps them move, or just spends the day playing golf with them.
  Former NFL coach Tony Dungy gives motivational talks about the importance of fathers.  His number one rule for fathers is "Father's need to love their child's mother."  At our house we have that covered. We decided early on to co-parent the large brood we had.  In that same respect we knew we would have to also show the children how much we loved each other. The number ten rule of Dungy's is "You are a father your whole life."  That too is important.  No matter how old children get, they still look up to, and need a father's love.

So to my husband I send out not only "Happy Father's Day" but  also "Thank you."  Thank you for being a wonderful husband to me and super father to our children.

And to my own dad (who would never read this) a very happy Father' Day.  You too gave your best lessons by example.  Love you both.

My brother and sister love to make fun of me about how much I love animals. Apparently I got enough love for animals for the three of us, as they don't feel the love I do for all animals!  I do take a lot of teasing about how much I baby my two Schnauzers.  That's okay though, it doesn't bother me a bit. Is there anything more loyal than a dog?  If you have ever had one, you must know the answer to that.  The other day Becky had a picture very much like this. I knew I had one too, so I looked in my files till I found it, so I could  post it.  I loved the quote I found to go with it.  Go to Tracey's blog to see what other quotes are shared this week...........And give your animal a special hug!

In Honor of my Grandfather and all Veterans....

The following is a poem my grandfather wrote to my grandmother in 1918 during WWI.
The picture above is of the actual poem (on the right), a letter he wrote while he was on the ship on his way to France, and two books of WWI poetry that were his. They are filled with wonderful graphics as well.  I hope you enjoy the poem as much as I love reading it.

                                       Same place, same war, same month, different day
Same Girl
    Same Town,

Same (as per usual):

            Same description of beautiful scenery.

I thought there was no better person to quote than the good doctor himself on graduation weekend.  I love all quotes by Dr. Seuss, but this one says so much!  I was at a graduation last weekend at a college, and found this enormous line of yellow bikes lined up behind a locked fence.  It was a perfect picture!  I had to take all the pics through the fence, but I loved that line of yellow bikes!  I am linking with Tracey for great quotes. I took this picture of the (full) double rainbow after a week of horrible storms in my state. I was in awe of the beauty of the rainbow, as well as reminded--yet again--of God's promise when I saw the rainbows.
