How to have CHOCOLATE on a red, white and blue holiday!

OK, admittedly this cake picture is from last
July 4th....
That is obvious if you have read how I have no stove.
(Although we did go shopping for one today....but I managed to get away without buying one...
I'm holding out for a summer-free-of-stove!)
Back to the cake...This is a very
fast and easy way to get
some chocolate in a
red, white and blue holiday!
I simply made ----
from a box mix---
a German chocolate cake.
(Renamed American chocolate of course!)
BUT, I did make the frosting from scratch.

ICING FOR GERMAN AMERICAN CHOCOLATE CAKE

1 stick butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. evaporated milk
3 egg yolks
1 c. pecans
1 c. coconut
1 tsp. vanilla
Melt butter, add sugar, milk, and egg yolks. Cook until it thickens. Add pecans, coconut, and vanilla. Cool.

Really.
That is all there is to it.
Cake made from a mix.
Quick and easy icing.
Put the cake on a 4th of July decorative plate of some type.
Plant some "indoor" sparklers in the middle...
and you are ready to celebrate the
4th
with a real bang!
